The Coalfield Regeneration Trust (CRT) in Sunderland is giving thousands of pounds to deserving causes in the area.

The Coalfield Regeneration Trust has given three projects a much-needed cash injection and more than £177,000 has been handed over to schemes in communities facing challenges after the coal mining industry came to an end.

Southwick Health and Community Forum have been given nearly £75,000 to help them improve resident’s health, aswell as education and employment opportunities. The grant will pay for management, staffing and running costs so that the forum can expand its services.
